Hi,
I need advise from professional experience person becuase i don't want to do any experiment on my machine as i don't have OS CD for my window xp ( I do have Product Key stiker on my laptop but no cd).
I am using XP Home Edition with SP-3, I want to upgrade it to XP Professional without formating hard disk and without losing any installed programes on my machine.
As far as i know that i can't use window XP OEM version to upgrade my OS as OEM requires clean installation which i don't want.
My friend has XP Professional CD with key, i think he bought it from india or some asian country and i believe its not orignal cd. Can i use his CD to upgrade XP Home Edition without formating Hard disk? Can i activate XP Professional with key which comes with that cd?
* Only reason i am upgrading is because of IIS.
Thanks

If it is the upgrade CD then it only rewrites over the system files and should not touch your personal files, programs, etc.(basically anything that is not microsoft or the operating system shouldn't be touched).
Now that is to the best of my knowledge so if you decide to go forth with that i suggest using this wonderful tool that im sure many of us have.
Its called google (http://\"http://www.google.com\")!
Microsoft should tell you this stuff on their website so check out their support topics and you should find what you are looking for.
