Title: I really need help!
Post by: abdul ftw on May 10, 2009, 06:11:02 PM
Hi.

Since my Xbox broke I've been playing PC games, I've had a problem. I bought GTA IV off Steam 2 weeks ago and since then I've been trying to play it but it never works! The intro scene goes EXTREMELY slow. The sound is fine but the video just goes ultra-slow. Then when you actually try to play the game it takes ages to load and when I pressed a button it took a while for the car to move...

For the game the requirements are:

System Requirements

My RAM is only 1gb but I've tried running on the lowest game graphics but it's still the same! I even tried running a registryclean and yet I still get the same thing. I feel that I've wasted money on the game if it wont be played...please tell me what to do! and if it helps, it's not a pre-made computer it was built.

All help appreciated, Thanks a lot.

It's obvious, and you know it also, buy more RAM for your computer
Minimum req. are 1.5, and you admit to having 1.0
Why the question?

Also, do you have Framework 3.0 installed?

Edit>>On another note, what is running in the background, anything you can disable while trying to run the game?
It doesn't appear to be that bad of a system
How much Memory can your computer hold?

It looks like it can handle 4gb, dualchannel memory, that would make a great performance increase
But to make sure, I would run a scan at Crucial
If you need a hand with any of that, let me know

Thank you for the reply.

Just checked I do have Framework 3.0 installed

Did a scan at Crucial but it didn't make a complete match so this is what I got.
    *  Maximum Memory Capacity:  4194304 MB
    * Currently Installed Memory:  1024 MB
    * Available Memory Slots:  3
    * Number of Banks:  4
    * Dual Channel Support:   N.A.
    * CPU Manufacturer:  GenuineIntel
    * CPU Family:   Intel® Pentium® D CPU 3.40GHz Model 6, Stepping 4
    * CPU Speed:  3391 MHz

I wasn't sure I should buy more RAM but will do now /biggrin.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':D\' />
