Title: IE freezes & Windows Task Mgr shows doubles of each open window.
Post by: sumoe on July 07, 2009, 12:13:24 PM
Hello, your assistance would be apreciated. Tks

IE freezes & Windows Task Mgr shows doubles of each open window.Overall the laptop is extremely slow.

Reviewed and saw several unneccesary lines, for example, the VPN link for McCain. The log looks like a mess with many repetitions.

I would like to create a backup of my entire computer on an external drive but I'm concerned that there may be a virus involved.

I await your consul.

See Hijackthis log below.

Title: IE freezes & Windows Task Mgr shows doubles of each open window.
Post by: guestolo on July 07, 2009, 02:20:18 PM
I don't see any double processes running that don't need to be
It's normal to see more than one running svchost.exe

Can you take a Screenshot of your Task manager open
Upload it to something like
Imageshack >> http://www.imageshack.us/ (http://\"http://www.imageshack.us/\")

and post a link here to the image

It appears it's just IE not responding on certain websites that your visiting
Are you purposely visiting those sites in Japanese writing?

Can you do the following
End Task on everyone of those running applications
Then, only open One instance of IE

Download > ATF Cleaner < (http://\"http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=1\") by Atribune and save it to your Desktop.

Double Click on ATF-Cleaner.exe to Run it
Check the boxes to the left of:

Windows Temp
Current User Temp
All Users Temp
Temporary Internet Files
*Prefetch (Windows XP) only.
Java Cache

The rest are optional - if you want to remove the lot, check "Select All".
Finally click Empty Selected. When you get the "Done Cleaning" message, click OK.
Click Exit from the Main menu

download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here (http://\"http://www.besttechie.net/tools/mbam-setup.exe\") or Here (http://\"http://www.majorgeeks.com/Malwarebytes_Anti-Malware_d5756.html\")
Save the installer to desktop

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

With that log from MBAM

Come back here, post a fresh Hijackthis log

Let me know how things are running
