Title: How to scheduled a shutdown on windows 2000 Profes

I was wondering if anyone knew how to setup an scheduled shutdown on windows 2000. What i\'m looking for
is a registry setting or a batch file, not a third party free software. Just a simple command that can turn off
computers at any given time. Can anyone help me with this one?

syntax: SHUTDOWN.EXE /L
Schedule it like any other task.
Unfortunately this will likely only bring you to \"It is ok to safely shutdown the computer.\"
So, here is the answer from experts-exchange that I copped:

Create a new text document on your desktop.
Rename it to shutdown.vbs
Right-click on it and choose edit.
Copy and paste the following code into the document and save it.

Set colOperatingSystems = GetObject(\"winmgmts:{(Shutdown)}\").ExecQuery(\"Select * from Win32_OperatingSystem\")
For Each objOperatingSystem in colOperatingSystems
 ObjOperatingSystem.Win32Shutdown(8)
Next

You can now schedule shutdown.vbs to run whenever you want.
This should when run close everything, shut down, and power off.

hello!

I have tried both your suggestions before. I forgot to mention that we have the Novell Client for windows installed on our computers. Your tips work without the novell client installed.

Any suggestions?
