Title: windows won't start
Post by: calog on January 28, 2010, 04:45:50 PM
Hello,

after receiving an error message telling me ati2cqag.dll "page fault in nonpaged area", my computer rebooted but windows won't start up.
Just before windows starts this message  appears : "bios doesn't conform to acpi specification"
and it comes back in the bios.

everything was working fine before ( i've never had any problems with it and i have it for over a year).
i've tried to repair it with windows dvd repair console but it doesn't let me go to that option.

i thought it was my psu so i changed it but it changed nothing ( i always have the bioc doesn't conform to acpi specification).

please help me.
thanks in advance.

What operating system are you running?
Can you get into safe mode?

Can you boot with a Linux distro?
Do you know what I mean, try Pupply linux or Ubuntu

Enter Bios, ensure your booting from CD first

Here's a link to Puppy linux
http://puppylinux.org/main/index.php?file=...t%20Release.htm (http://\"http://puppylinux.org/main/index.php?file=Download%20Latest%20Release.htm\")

As this version is a small download, try it first,
Or try Ubuntu
http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download (http://\"http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download\")
ensure, if it does want to boot, you try it without making any changes

This will at least troubleshoot to see if you can have the system boot at all
NOTE: when burning the ISO, ensure to burn as an IMAGE file

i've just checked the memory and this was the culprit. as soon as i remove the memory stick and rebooted all was ok.

my powersupply was really hot just after the crash and the fan on it wasn't working so that's why i changed it.

thanks a lot for all your help.
