Hi,

You may be able to assist me with 2 Win XP issues:

AMD Athlon 900mhtz
256mb RAM
Win XP

Has anyone heard of a program called \"MemoryBlaster\" that has incipedly placed itself in my System Tray? The right-click option is to either \"Upgrade to Memory Manager\" or \"Close\". Where wld this prog be residing? How can I access the system tray to clean it out? Have you heard of this issue?

AutoRuns from SysInternals will show you where every program that is autostarting is located.

Pretty much any program that claims to optimize your RAM on an NT based OS such as XP is simply lying. Maybe some of you recall the \"RAM Doubler\" fiasco on Win95?
XP does a very good job of managing it's memory all on it's own. That's why simple apps don't crash the OS when they crash unlike Windows 95, 98 & ME.

To me Memory Blaster looks like a rip off of $29.95 from blissfully ignorant computer users who don't know or care to know the difference. /mad.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':angry:\' />

To customize your sys tray right click on Start and choose properties, then task bar then customize. I think ideally you want to uninstall Memoryblaster. Is the program in the list of programs in your start menu? Have you tried Add/Remove Programs to see if it is listed there? If you can't find it do a search for MemoryBlaster. If all else fails just go to Run-type msconfig go to selective startup then startup and uncheck that program. This will at least stop it from starting if you can't remove it. Good luck.

Registry:

HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Go to start button, then run.. type in msconfig
and uncheck the program you dont want to start up in the start up tab of msconfig.
