Title: How to change temp dir location in ME

I just uninstalled a windows XP upgrade and now all of my temp files are saved on the desktop.
How do I point everything back to the TEMP directory?

1.  delete all the temp files
2.  Open Internet Explorer.
3.  Click Tools [at the top]
4.  Click Internet Options.
5.  Make sure it is at the general tab.
6.  Click Settings [in the middle]
7.  Click \"Move Folder.\"
8.  Type in any drive and folder.  WinME's default is C:\Windows\Temp.

One question:  Why did you go back to [censored]dows (Windows) ME?  It's like 100, 000, 000 times worse than Windows 98, and plus, it's 999,000,000,000 times worse than Windows XP!

Did you run into some compatibility problem?

Oops, you don't type in the folder, you select it, by doing this:

1.  click my computer
2.  click the c drive
3.  click windows
4.  click temp
5.  click ok.

6.  exit out of internet explorer and restart the computer

Ok the above is only for internet explorer not your %TEMP%.

Try running      msconfig

check your variables in there. You need to set your enviroment variable
to where ever you want it.   I think ME actually has a way to set your
enviroment variables that is similar to 2k...i do not believe 98x has this.

Set the TEMP and TMP variables to something valid.

If that dont work out for some odd reason you can always with 9x flavors like
ME just open the  c:\autoexec.bat file and add a line in there to set the variables
to your directories...like...

SET TEMP=C:\TEMP
SET TMP=C:\TEMP

Again though with ME you should have the option of setting the variables in your
msconfig or whatever...   START -> RUN -> msconfig

One last thing if its like 2k's you will have a global and user variable..i would set both of them to the
same directory.
