Title: XP CDROM/ W2K REPAIR
Post by: anastasi on June 16, 2003, 10:26:57 PM
Hi,
I have a w2k pro with problems, blue screen, caused by taking out
easy cd creator platinum. I don't have a cd rom for it but was wondering if I could use a xp cdrom just to get in to any repair section, even if that would work I haven't a clue, also I found a site with a w2k cd rom to download but it doesn't seem to do anything, I found it at this site
http://berns.cae.wisc.edu/wincdman (http://\"http://berns.cae.wisc.edu/wincdman\") NOW, If I only knew how to use it !!
    Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated, Thank you in advance!! /rolleyes.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'\' />  /smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' />

That’s not what you need. Wincdman is designed to make modified CD images of Win2k/XP that you already own (i.e. slipstream service packs or to make a multi-boot CD image).
An XP CD will not repair Win2k, you will need a Win2k CD to do that.
You can borrow anyone’s CD and repair Win2k using your product key.
There is no legal way to download Win2k off the net so I don’t suggest doing it.
Borrow a friends CD (copy it if you have to) but you must use your product key.
Good luck!
