Hey guys,
I want to get off the simple file and print sharing system that is in windows xp pro. I know how to turn it off and all. however when I create a share remove the everyone group and add a local user account to the share I can't get access to the folder and I don't get prompted to enter a user name and password to get into the share. Does anyone know how to set this up right? I thnk I am missing something...
Cheers,

Ok, well we are now half way there. I can get in using the net use command but is there any way that I get the client computers to prompt for a user name and password when trying to connect to the share without using the net use?

try using the \"map network drive\" that is available when you right click on the \"my network places\". as for the share, click on the permissions tab. if you are in a domain, make sure that the users exist in the same domain for you to be able to connect. usually it doesn't ask for the account and password since it uses the username of the person currently logged-in.

Great that's another fix for it, just that before when i was using the complex sharing method before I would get promted for a user name and password, This will work for the time being but.
Cheers
