Well i have a peculiar problem on my system, it just HANGS without any reason. I have dual booting with WIN98 and WIN2k , itdoesn't matter which OS I work in , it would HANG sometimes while copying, sometimes just while browsing.

I have formatted my WIN98 and WIN2k as a last ditch effort but that hasn't resolved the issue.... moreover now WIN2k even refuses to install nad HANGS while installing , while "REGISTERING NEW COMPONENTS" exactly.

Earlier I had tried to install WINXP but it would also have the same problem of HANGING.... /mad.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'\' />

I would be grateful if someone could help me.

M$ used the same registry hive layout for pretty much all Windows OS.  98 will get confussed and write to the 2000/XP registry or vice versa.  Recent boot manager programs (most require $$$) have solved that problem.   Your other option is to run one in a VMWare session to keep them seperate.  Try running "fdisk /mbr" and then reinstalling.  It should not help but may kick start the computer for you.  BACKUP everything before running that command.
