Title: wireless question.

I am using wireless cable router at home and it works fine with my IBM notebook.

Now my office wanted to setup a wireless ADSL internet.

My question is... can my notebook be set to use at the office and home with the same network card ??

It should work fine as long as you are setup for DHCP at home as well as in the office.

Sorry, I am using wireless NIC. What about the ssid and wep ?

If both networs are setup and configured to be the same, and the office has a Wireless net connection then it should work fine, it's the card's settings that will determin if it works or not, not the card itself.

can i make a wireless lan of 2 machines with only 2 wireless card? i heard that if there is only for conect 1 pc with other u can do it without the access point or the router if this is true pls let me know

Some Wireless LANs (IEEE 802.11) cards with PCs with wireless NIC, the NIC can serve as an access point. A normal access points (AP) bridge between wireless and wired networks and can expand the distance between the PCs.

I realised that no matter what ssid and channel you set on the AP.

Anyone with a wireless adaptor can just scan it and get tap into the internet bandwith... any solution/s to this.

There should be settings in the router to filter by MAC address thus allowing access to the wireless devices you choose

 They have to be very close, the range is 30 feet  (low cost ones) to 1000 feet. Plus going through walls or floors makes the distance even less.
