Title: Task Manager Problem
Post by: Guest_wolfman on August 27, 2003, 03:41:43 PM
I have a users laptop that is running on Windows 2000 Professional.

The problem is whenever I try to open Task Manager (using ALT + CTRL + DEL > then Task Manager or CTRL + SHIFT + ESC) it pops up for a second and then disappears.  And if I do a right mouse button click on the appropriate spot in the lower right corner of the task bar the same thing happens.

I ran gpedit.msc and checked User Config > Admin Templates > System > Logon/ Logoff - everything looks alright here, the settings are configured to "Not Configured"

Any help would be appreciated

I bet its a virus, sound like that you have the W32.Klez virus. Go visit Symantec's website for removal instructions and a free removal tool. Have fun. However, if Norton antivirus doesn't detect anything, go to http://www.pcpitstop.com/antivirus/default.asp (http://\"http://www.pcpitstop.com/antivirus/default.asp\") or www.housecall.antivirus.com and do a online virus scan. It may also be the MSBlast virus http://www.microsoft.com/security/incident/blast.asp (http://\"http://www.microsoft.com/security/incident/blast.asp\")
