Title: random crashes/ corrupted hard drive

So i've finally put together my new computer

AMD XP 3000+
Soyo Dragon KT400 Dragon Ultra
with 512Mb Corsair XMS PC3500 400Mhz
and a 120Gig Seagate Hard Drive

Installed Win XP Pro, and everything ran just fine for about two days.  Then my computer randomly just resets, and wont boot cause the hard drive is apparently corrupted/empty/whatever.  So I reformat and all that fun stuff, and a few days later. . .it happens again.  Any ideas???

I sent the motherboard in to be replaced. . ...could it possibly be bad ram though?

Why don't you go to Control Panel/System/StartUp/Advanced and uncheck reboot automatically so you get a blue screen with an error code you can look up. Also check out the Event Viewer.

Does it only reboot when you are on the internet? MSBlast?

Maybe?  I have a cable connection, so I guess.  I actually got to watch it reboot once, no error message, no nothin, just a quick reboot.

DCOM RPC Worm in the Wild!
 
If you're running a Windows system please go to windows update and make sure you have downloaded and installed every critical patch listed. Don't be lazy, just do it right now! There is officially a worm out there that is taking control of windows based system right now.

Here's the short and skinny on the worm.

1) It's being called "W32.Blaster.Worm" by Symantec, "W32/Lovsan.worm" by Mcafee, and "WORM_MSBLAST.A" by Trend.
2) It exploits the DCOM RPC vulnerability (described in Microsoft Security Bulletin MS03-026) using TCP port 135.
3) If infected a program called msblast.exe will be running.
4) It causes system instability and opens your computer to remote access.
5) It cannot automatically spread to windows NT or 2003 systems but they will crash if the worm tries to access them. If the worm is installed manually it will run in windows NT and 2003 though.
6) The worm also attempts to perform a DoS attack on the Windows Update site.

It is a possible video card problem,I had a similar problem with a soyo mb and a ati all n wonder 128 pro card

Sounds like RAM, Power Supply or overheating problem. check all your fans and make sure your power supply have enough wattage and is good. If not it's likely bad ram stick.
