Title: Exchange 2k
Post by: Anonymous on June 12, 2001, 12:29:21 PM
Hello all.

I\'m having a weird problem with Exchange 2000 and Win98 clients, for which I found yet no solution:

If a user uses Outlook 2000 with Win2k Pro, he can log on to his account, send and receive mail, no problem.
If the same user uses Outlook 2000 with Win98, he can receive but cannot send, nor see the Global Address List.

Any clues?

Thanks

are they logging into the domain on boot up?

More importantly...are you using Active Directory with completely non-backward compatible Win2000 domain?  You may need the Active Directory client installed to complete the cycle...

I had a similar problem; Mine ended up being a DNS issue. If you are handing out DNS through DHCP verify that your issuing more then the Netbios name of the domain to your clients. IE. If your FQDN is server1.nwtraders.msft, DHCP needs to be handing out nwtraders.msft not just nwtraders…

Hope that makes sence..
