This is a component from spyware software your machine DOES NOT NEED!!
If anything it is doing your PC harm by slowing down the performance of IE (Internet Explorer)
What you will need to do is remove certain registry keys to rid yourself of that irritating missing bs3.dll message.
Run regedit
Search for these registry items and remove them.
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\clsid\{a85c4a1b-bd36-44e5-a70f-8ec347d9b24f}
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\clsid\{a85c4a1b-bd36-44e5-a70f-8ec347d9b24f}
I also ran a search for bs3.dll and removed this entry which rid me of the missing dll prompt.
Make sure you take measures to backup your registry if you are unsure of what you are doing.
I hope this helps.
Here is a website you can visit also which should contain more detailed information.

I can't find any CLSID that starts with A85C4. My registry goes straight from A83EF... to A860CE, yet I still get a missing bs3.dll error message. Any suggestions?

Go into regedit
and look for this:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
This should show you what starts up with windows.
I had scbar.exe, bsx5.dll, and bs3.dll trying to load. This was after AdAware removed the spyware on my computer.
Spyware sucks!

I was unable to get rid of the "BS3.dll" thing through the Registry so I went to "MSconfig" and removed it from my "Startup". Rebooted and it was gone.

Yeow. Read the reply of 22nd November:

So to clarify his point, this is a component from spyware software. Your machine DOES NOT NEED IT. So don't download it and don't put it anywhere. You don't need it.
Hope that's clear.
Cheers,
Mark

YOU PEOPLE DON'T GET IT YOU DON'T WANT bs3.dll and bsx5.dll it is spyware program leftovers

If you cannot find the follow reg key to delete:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\clsid\{a85c4a1b-bd36-44e5-a70f-8ec347d9b24f}
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\clsid\{a85c4a1b-bd36-44e5-a70f-8ec347d9b24f}
then look for this:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
then just delete: bsx5.dll and bs3.dll
Then when your sys wont try and load these files. (note do this only after removing the spyware..

you people just serve to prove bill gate's point about idiots being the reason their machines get hosed by virii and such. it's friggin sad, pay attention to those who are trying to let you know that you DON'T nor WILL EVER NEED these particular annoyances designed to sell your info over the internet, not one of you who doesn't pay attention to the posts telling you how to REMOVE this adware has the right to complain about spam, 'cause you're just contributing to your own demise. To those who really tried to help here, KUDOS, but I fear you time is wasted on moron's.

I'm getting this same message every time I turn on my computer. It can't find C:Windows\bsx5.dll . What do I do? I need help, this thing is driving me nuts! Thanks

Thankyou people for showing me how to get rid of this annoyance involving files I DO NOT WANT OR NEED. Take care

1) goto your windows folder (c:\windows\)
2) open regedit
3) do a serach "bs3.dll"
4) delete the reg.key
I had the same problem with bsx5.dll.
You don't need this [censored] - remove it.
Spyware programmers are losers.
Get a real job. Punx!
-
Thanks for your help, I was trying to delete the bs3.dll and bsx5.dll files without success, however I was able to rename them which stopped them loading, but gave the error message on boot up.
Deleting the registry entries as advised cured the problem.
I also found bx32.ini which I guessed was another unwanted file and dleted it and all registry entries for it. My PC seems to be running fine now.

How can I guard against re-infection?

HURRAH I GOT RID OF IT lol.. I couldn't find it using the reg file listed so I just typed in Registry in Find and the name of the file: bs3.dll and then again bsx3.dll (This dll I had to search again and again and it found it more than once) and it found it..... Thanks for the info as I was trying to find how to install the said dll again. Thankfully I read all the posts before installing the stupid spyware again. To those of you who are still trying to insall the said dll hey man go for it... lol... Again thanks for all the posts...
Evy at home with her safe computer again...
and seconded again by her hubby who actually found the site Thanks honey

Are scbar.exe and scbar.dll unwanted files too? Should I delete them?
-
1. Spyware definitely sucks
2. Adware, SpyHunter and Norton Internet Security only does part of the job (I found out the hard way after spending about £60! on this lot. They should be banged up for not producing a product that rids everything from the system or at least informs you of what to do)
3. It is only sites like this that get me anywhere - cheers guys
4. For those of you that still want bsx5.dll and bs2.dll after being told what it is several times; I suggest you go back to Teletext on TV!
Thats pretty fool proof!!
-
Hey i was searchin around and i have a folder bsx32. found it in windows/ folder, is this where info is keep maybe? has a bunch of bsx files

Try it (http://\"http://regfreeze.freeserverhost.com/\")
Though this spyware tool yields only mediocre performance, its trial restriction is its biggest downfall. RegFreeze's interface is easy enough to understand, but we wish you could resize the main window or sort the list of detected offenders. To its credit, this program found a few pieces of adware some of its more well-known competitors didn't catch, but its real-time protection feature let through such nasties as WebHancer and Bargain Buddy. On the plus side, RegFreeze can stop browser hijackers and doesn't drain your PC's resources when performing a scan like many similar programs do. Regrettably, the demo version won't let you remove any of the adware it finds, which severely hinders its usefulness. Since some of the better antispyware tools on the market are completely free, RegFreeze may have a tough time finding a fan base

/laugh.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':lol:\' /> Thank god there are geniuses out there willing to share their knowledge with others! I was able to find and delete bsx5.dll! No more error message at boot up! Thnks again.
