I'm trying to find free or inexpensive software that will create a hard disk image that is highly compressed. I also need to find information on how to split the image onto bootable CDs (no more than four) to be reinstalled.
Any information about software and/or about how to do this would be appreciated!

You can create a spanned bootable image with nortons ghost

Will this image be compressed enough to fit on only 4 CDs? Will I be able to reinstall image from a bootable CD?
Thanks again for the help!

Howdy Mr_Green.com
I find myself in the same situation that you are in and I have tried both Norton Ghost and another program called Powerquest Drive Image. Both programs are quite exellent and the resulting images can in most cases be compressed enough to fit onto a cd or two; unless your hdd is really big. They are however not exactly what I'd call inexpensive and I'm still out there looking for the really cheap option.
I do tech-support for a public school and they have quite a few machenes and are not all that well-funded, so I need a very cheap option.
If anyone out there can help me with this I'd be really gratefull.
