Title: Which RAM?
Post by: Samo on November 16, 2003, 07:36:26 AM

Hi i have a MS-6524 mainboard on my 1.7ghz pc and am currently running 256mb of PC133 RAM. I am looking to get a ram upgrade and know that DDR333 is better than what i have at the moment. What confuses me is that on the spec page for my mainboard at http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mai...tail.php?UID=44 (http://\"http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_detail.php?UID=44\")

It says for my SiS 650 chipset it has a "64 bit performance DDR333 / DDR266 / PC133 memory controller" but at the bottom it says

Main Memory

• Supports four memory banks using two 168-pin unbuffered DIMM.
• Supports up to 2GB PC133 SDRAM.
• Supports 3.3v SDRAM DIMM.

Does this mean i have to run PC133? /wink.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\';)\' />

Thanks Samo

I checked out the site and it looks like it supports DDR333 ram but remember you can't mix the two. Don't you have the manual? If not I'd download it and check it out. So if you are getting new Ram get 512. If your not a gamer or 3D graphic designer it's doubtful that you will notice the different between pc133 & DDR.
