Hardware / Desktop vs. Tower
« on: January 14, 2006, 04:20:29 PM »
I agree with the towers and any way towers are designed to have more room if u ever need to upgrade the system. desktops are small and compact which also means the heat builds-up faster then a tower that has more room. So i would go with the tower

Hardware / new x64-bit computer advice
« on: January 14, 2006, 04:17:00 PM »
since it says 64-bit advice ill give u some. The 64-bit is nice and helps a little. me and about 3 friends have all tested  the 64-bit processors. Basicly wat they do is load every program profectly which means they load with no errors 100% the time so it will always load at the settings you put the game at or wat it requires. The P4 are just as good its just sometimes since the P4 get up to about 3.8ghz ive even seen 4.4ghz they load the game so fast that theres so much errors that it has to keep reloadin and reloading thats y it seems like it takes longer to load. But I would recommend staying with a P4 with HT

Hardware / Gigabyte Graphics Card.
« on: January 14, 2006, 04:11:43 PM »
ok first before u go spending 300$+ dollars on a graphic card you should first learn why they are that much ands the point. For startes a graphic card is design to give games, picture well hell everything better quality. ok now it real doesnt matter as much on the size of the card ex 128megs 64megs 256megs and so on. It matters more on the clock speed, and the core speed of the card. The clock and core speed will determine  how good the  graphic card is. I have an ATI readon 9200se 128meg, defualt core and clock speeds are about 200mhz very slow compared to the new 300-500mhz. The newest are running at only about 550mhz core speed. but my graphic card with a few tweaks that you can find on the internet is now running at a core speed of about 275mhz and clock of over 300mhz. the clock speed with always beable to go higher. Yes by basicly overclocking/and by speeding up the core it will overheat and can damage the card only if u dont have cooling. so if u want to spend about 100$ on a graphic card and some fans instead of 300$min on a card and also by more fans (runs faster still need more cooling) then  its your choice Im just here to give u some other things to think about. So i would go to google and find out info before always buyinh things. Help this helped a lil and didnt confuse u lol or and also my 9200se can play almost any game and run on high settings ive tried it

Hardware / Can't get video to work
« on: January 14, 2006, 04:01:17 PM »
Well first i would check the monitor switch it out with a different one. Then if theres an built in video port i would connect the monitor to that not to the graphic card. If that then works go into the bios and check the video settings to see if the board is reading from the right place, ex options: AGP, PCI, PCIexpress or wat ever the option for that is. of that dont work then try the power supply if you are still having problems take the computer into the backyard put some fireworks in it (the good ones) and blow it up and buy a new one and im serious

Hardware / Overheat: Not Sure?
« on: January 14, 2006, 03:34:31 PM »
First, I would go out and buy 1-3 case fans due to leaving it on all day. That may be one thing. Also your graphic card may be getting old, or its only the minuim graphics needed to play the game ex 32 meg. or it could be the monitor might be getting old. Or it could just be that ur drivers need to be updated. But I would highly recommend buyin more fans for the inside. you can check the temp of the computer in the bios, forget wat to look for but just look around. The motherboard should not get more then 130 degrees and the cpu should be about the same if its over then yea that overheatting and badly.

Hardware / Dell Graphics Card Upgrade
« on: January 14, 2006, 03:29:29 PM »
I would go to ebay.com or geeks.com and buy a brand new computer for about 400$. Dell computers suck ass they manufactor most of there own parts means its very very hard to upgrade the system with outside parts. So the best thing for you to do and to save money is first go to ebay.com go to the computer area put max dollar amount and find something for a decent price thats not a dell.
