Software / Windows XP Manual Network Setup?

Skip the first paragraph if you don't want the background detail-
I was watching a movie on my computer last night when it crashed and kept on rebooting. After opening it up and seeing a clogged/dirty heatsink fan I cleaned it out and now the computer is restored to perfect working capability. Sort of...
For some reason I can't connect to the internet any longer. I have NOTHING in my Network Connections folder since the crash yesterday, and attempting to add new connections via the wizard (or the other option right above wizard) does not work. It says it is adjusting the computer for networked internet and then it says it was unsuccefsful and asks me to restart anyway. I have tried 4+ times and every time it is unsuccesful. Basically I would just like to know how to manually add a wireless USB card as my internet connection. I am using Microsoft Wireless Broadband as the wireless USB connection to my desktop and as the base station. I just want something in there, even if its the LAN connection so I can plug in, I just want to be able to use the internet again.
Thanks
Windows XP SP1, p4 2.8ghz, 768 mb ram
