Tech Clinic / Help with HP DVD840 External Drive

Hey everyone. New to this forum. I am a 43 year old woman so be gentle....haha. I bought an HP external DVD burner and it worked fine for a week while using DVDFAB Decrypter to rip DVDs to my hard drive and then using InterDVD to burn it. It came with Nero 6 but as far as I can see there is no way to rip to the hard drive using it. My problem is that suddenly the programs stopped recognizing that the drive has a disc in it. I called HP and they had me burn files off of my computer to the drive and of course that worked. When I double click on the drive in my computer (it is drive F) it says please insert a disc. When I use the other programs such as DVDFAB the following error comes up.
