Software / setupp.ini (crack) then CD-R bootbalbe?
« on: May 23, 2003, 03:06:30 AM »
Hi:

I got the info from the site on HOW-TO edit the i386/setupp.ini file so that the installation of Windows 2K Advanced Server will NOT ask or require a Product Key.  I did that by simply coping the entire CD to my hard drive and then using notepad to edit the file (making the change shown from this site).

Now, I have the complete CD with the ONE changed file on my HD.  When I use a burning program to copy all those files to a new BLANK CD-R .... that went OK too.  But, when I tried to restart the PC and BOOT from this new CD-R ... of course it failed (as I thought it would) because it was NOT a true bootable CD-R.

So, I then tried to make this CD-R all over again, but this time I used the bootable CD-R options that come with the burning software.  I was able to make a bootable CD-R (which boots to DOS), and that put me at the command prompt ..... I guess I could have installed the software from this point, but I have the following questions, and I am hoping that someone can tell me the best path:

#1:  If I simply have a CD-R (bootable or not bootable) that contains the correct I386 folder on it for a Microsoft OS (say in this example Win2k Adv. Server), and I am at a DOS command prompt, what would be the correct syntax to have the Win2k 'setup.exe' file load and install the OS?  I was thinking that it would be winnt.exe or winnt32.exe, but I was not sure if setup with an / option or not was the way to go???

#2:  Does anyone know of a way that I can simply edit the setupp.ini file, and then make a CD-R that will be a REAL install CD and launch the Win2k OS from the CD (just like the store bought ones), so that I don't have to do anything else other then edit my setupp.ini file(S), do the process to copy it as a REAL TRUE OS Installation CD, and then install my OS?

Thanks in advance for any of your time and reply!
