Hardware / need help installing a old hard drive into my new pc

I opened (My Computer) in the start menu found the F: drive had some of my old programs in side but I can't find my Photos and Music. None on my files from my old pc. When i try to open my owner Documents and settings file i get a window that pops up and says (Access is Denied) window.

What Did i do wrong what do i need to do to get my old files I did Photo seach of the F: drive and got a whole lot of crap from programs like tool bar buttons.[/quote]

The best way to test Vista is to use a different hadddrive with a clean install.basic requirements for a good test is at least a pentium 4 2.4 ghz,1 gig of memory and an 80 gig harddrive whether you are using rc1 or rc2. Vista is kinda neat takes time to get used to but untill they come out with sp1 I will stick with xp( upgrading is not the way to go )use a different harddrive and a fresh install this way if you dont like it you can always put your other harddrive back in and be ready to go.

Alt-OS / Linux newb :(

If you go to the ubuntu web site you can download an image file that when you burn it to a disk it will either let you run ubuntu from the disk for trial purposes or install the operating system.If you run it fro the disk it does not install or change your present operating system this is the best way to begin learning about an alt os.

Software / Installing Windows XP Media Center Edition

You will have to do a clean install Media edition will not install over xp pro.xp pro is actually the better software,depending on what you want to do.I have a compaq evo 6000 dual xeon 1.8,1 gig of ram an ati 9200 series all in wonder ,media center would not work to its capicity with my video card because it is not set up for it but xp pro works fine.I can surf or watch tv my preference.

Software / Problem with Home XP Network

On each computer right click on the desk top and create a folder do another right click and enable these folders for sharing.Make sure that both computers have the same computer work group name (home,office ect)reboot both computers when they come back up on one of them drag a picture file or something to the shared folder go to the other computer open up my network and you should see the shared folder open it and you will see what you put in it open the share folder on this computer and you should be able to drag your item to this folder.I hope this helps sometimes it's easier to do than explain.

When you bring up nero smart start look at the bar center top and make sure it is set to dvd and not cd

Software / having trouble playing burnt dvd rom on dvd player

the probability is you burnt the movies to a dvd+r disk and a lot of home dvd players wont read it,a lot of home dvd players have no problem reading movies burnt to dvd-r disk
