Tech Clinic / Strange System Problem !

I am using P-IV 2.8 HT CPU with 512 MB RAM and GEForce2 FX 5200 Chipset Graphics card. I have 2 hdisks - 160GB and 40 GB.(made Primary Master-Slave) with Samsung CD writer.

My problem is that sometimes when I restart my PC, the monitor light stays yellow only & there is no display in monitor. I can hear the sound of CPU fan, hdisk so I reckon system stays alive during that period. The light does not turn green even if I wait for few minutes.

Then I have to shut my sys down for 5-10 mins & when I reboot, it works properly.

Can anyone explain this behaviour ?

Is it that my graphics card gets heated or something like that ?

This problem occurs regularly but not always.

Tech Clinic / Problem reinstalling windows98 without reformattin

Hi !

      See Surya, u need to back up ur data first but u need Secondary Hdisk for tht.

      May b ur best pal will take the risk by copying ur 'infected' files but u`ve to do tht in any way.

      If u can`t manage to back up, then there is some risk but troubleshootin will be done !

      First of all Install Windows using any Bootable CD, it`ll prompt u to save ur current System Files but DO NOT DO SO ! All ur Programs will still Function & ur DATA will not be lost.

      If u don`t `ve bootable CD, then get a Win98 Bootdisk & start it with CDROM support & then install Win98 from CD without backin ur current System File (coz they r corrupt).
