Check your vendor tech support to be sure.  http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'\' />

Coz if ull still opt for that hdd, it might just cause problems in the future.

Hardware / video problem

http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dry.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'<_<\' />  I also think it's a Video card problem.  Since you're using a Dell sys, & you've said that you can see video when OS loads, it's not your monitor (of course!) If you really wanna fix that problem, i can't just give you exact advises on that problem coz we need to do some further troubleshooting. To be sure, just contact Dell hardware support, i guess u already know the number for TEch support?  http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\';)\' />

Hardware / LCD Monitors
« on: August 15, 2003, 07:56:02 AM »
http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'\' />   My personal suggestion is a Dell LCD monitor. Why? Coz every Dell monitor has its own Self-Test Feature Check (SFTC) which is very useful when you think there's something wrong w/ your monitor.   http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\';)\' />

They are open M-F 7am-6pm. Just make sure you prepare your Service Tag ok?  HOw do i know this? I'm a Dell Tech support agent also.  http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\';)\' />

Hardware / floppy drive causes w2k hang on startup
« on: August 04, 2003, 04:26:05 PM »
http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'\' />   I think the reason why your locking up during when your username or Os is loading is that you have too many unwanted programs running simultaneously during start up. Try this: Start tab>Run>type msconfig then ok>go to startup tab & disable or uncheck all unnecessary programs.   http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'\' />

Did you already swap the floppy cable w/ a known good one? If not, try it.  If it didn't work. There's something wrong either w/ the controller or power connectors/cables. Try this one, if its not recognized in the OS but its recognized in the bios, reinstall your OS but dont format.  Hope these would help you!

Hardware / unmountable boot volume XP
« on: August 04, 2003, 03:53:54 PM »
http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'B)\' />   Hey, i've encountered many problems from diff people like that & i gave them this solution:
http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'\' />      Since ur using an XP, boot from a bootable media ( if you're a Dell system owner, Boot from the Resource CD that comes w/ ur system) and try to go on a DOS prompt.  type chkdsk /r & press enter.   On the next prompt just type exit.  Or to be sure, on the next prompt, type in fixboot & press enter.  Hope this would help.
