Did you use fixmbr too? Maybe the partition table is the cause. Use a partition soft to fix it.

Hardware / Western digital HD 8 M cache
« on: March 18, 2004, 08:33:22 AM »
Hello. I've just bought a new WD HD 80G with 8M cache, installed it as a second drive and I was wondering if it's normal to hear the heads every 5 sec? I've test it and the speed and response is the same as my old 40G WD. So why would I need one more expensive (yes, with 8M cache) if a simple one would the same job?

Hi. I have an Intel D850MV motherboard with 2 RIMMs of 128 MB RDRAm and I want to add another RIMM of 256 MB.
Do I need two 128 MB (parity) or two 256 MB?
Thanks

Hi, I'm using emule for some time now and I'm beginning to get tired of the low download speed. I was wondering if anyone knows a ftp site that really works, because I've tried some and so far no luck.
Thanks.

Hardware / GeForce 4 - fuzzy image
« on: October 19, 2003, 04:26:13 PM »
I have already upgraded my BIOS and on video config. I can only change the size of VRAM and the primary video slot. My settings are 64 M and AGP. So I don't think is the BIOS.
The monitor apears in device manager and again I'm pretty sure is not the monitor or it's driver.
I want to buy a GeForce 4 128 Mb or a GeForce 5. Anyway, they are cheap and until now no nvidia card has done any problem.
Another interesting detail is that after installing Win XP the image on startup is still fuzzy but XP is able to load the corect driver and the image quality is much better.
See ya!

Don't think I didn't install a new driver from nvidia. My guess is that is not the driver, because I get the fuzzy image right after I start the Pc, starting with the POST part. It looks like the motherboard doesn't recongnize the video card. Any way, I think I'll buy a new card.
Thank you for your interest in helping me.

http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huh.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'\' /> Hi there!
I'm having a big problem with my GeForce 4 64 Mb card for more then 4 months.
From the moment I start my PC, the image quality is terrible, 640x480 and no monitor in Device Manager when I log on and after I restart the computer a couple of times, I can get the 16 bit color and the 1024x768 resolusion.
My guess is that there is nothing wrong with my driver, the problem is the card it self. Hopefully is not the AGP slot, because the PC stop responding on startup.
Thanks.
