Software / Slipstreaming Hotfixes
« on: August 20, 2003, 01:04:21 PM »
Yeah Royalbox, that looks like that might be it, or close enough anyway.

But A General Question for Everybody Else. In all of the KB Artickles in Slipstreaming hotfixes from Microsoft, they tel you to use CATVER.EXE, yet I can't find it anywhere. In Looking around this forum, I found a brief blurb, the CATVER.EXE is a "FOR INTERNAL USE ONLY" App, but my question is, if that is the case, then why are they telling people to use it?

Software / Slipstreaming Hotfixes
« on: August 19, 2003, 08:07:00 AM »
in the relatively recent past (Maybe as far back as last September) I was doing a Search on how to Create a Slipstreamed XP with SP1 bootable CD as I was having alot of problems, it didn't seem to be working like it had with Win2k. I found Several Methods, including one I found in these pages.
I dont remember who it was, but somebody was working on adding the hotfixes to the slipstreamed CD, and after what seemed like forever (Atleast when reading it, it seemed like it took him/her a long time) they came back with some Detailed Instructions about how to do it. And I'm not talking about running the Executables after the GUI install is complete by editing the txtsetup.sif file or whateever, they were replacing files in the i386 folder based on version # and editing or replacing Cat files, it was an involved process. A bit more than what I wanted at the time, but I filed it away mentally as something to come back to.
Well now seems like a good time to come back to it, as last night I installed a fresh copy of XP and the machine Shutdown with an RPC error BEFORE THE OOBE FINSHED:angry:. I booted successfully into Safe mode and found the Following:
MSBLAST.EXE, 3 TFTP#### Files, Lovsan.exe and the new NACHI virus/Variant whatever. Does Anybody Remember Seeing, or more preferably, Contributing to the Posts I'm Speaking of. Oh and just to one up this all a notch, I'd like to do this on DVD not CD, but I can wait for that.

Thank you,
Mike Hanson
