Software / MSSQL Server???

Its a server related app. You must have installed something that needed to use it. Basically it runs in the background as a service which generally has a database attached to it. My apologies for idiot talk but its early. Dont worry about it, its all cool!
The white circle next to the icon means its doing nothing on your system. Green in the circle means it is going and red means it is stopped!
