Tech Clinic / lordy i hope you can help

my neighbour had to come and help me reinstall winxp last week because
i had major problems..anyway thats working but now my soundmax card adi 1885
is not listed in device mgr so i have no sounds..i called dell and spent 2hours with a tech in India and i couldnot reinstall the soundmax from the dell drivers resource
cd..it would start to reinstall and then finish and say no driver found could not install. i went and dl the sm drivers( and they are the same driver that were on resource cd)..
trying to figure out prob by searching the web i see that maybe i should have installed intel chipset utility so (i have 845Echipset) but after dl file and running setup i get error that says"error while creating product key under silent install:install result=fail" i read the notepad notes and it says something about adding flags which i tried various combos and could not figure.
can anyone help me get my soundmax installed again..i cant listen to any music on comp..thanks
