Hardware / Abit NF7-S & Maxtor 160GB SATA Issues

I've a similar problem with same motherboard (chaintech 7njs ultra delux) and maxtor 120 go SATA.

I can tell you some information and hoping you find a solution :

myself I installed XP pro (at the beginning make F6 to install SATA drivers "fastrack 376") and normaly it's work.
Take care that your're SATA is connected to the up port (raid 0) and no to the second (which is down the mother board)
It's very important.

Try to change you sequency boot order in the bios (you can some different until it's works)

You're floppy drivers for SATA need programme (you fond them on Cd's 7njs)

At last (what i'm doing tomorrow) up date your motherboard.

I've a similar experience : i build my cmputer with 1 SATA HDD maxtor 120 Go.

You just have to press F6 during the benning of XP installation (you can see some instruction down your screen)

Then you install the SATA drivers (installation set-up guide you).

Normaly the drivers are on CD's motherboard

That mean you con connect you're optical drive (i do it myself and no pb : xp gives them new letter (that depend how many partition you created)

just for information i don't know if you can connect 2 SATA at the first beginning, but you can try !!
