Tech Clinic / Delete Network

Hello...
I installed a network between an XP and a 98 puter. All done by software
through XP, ethernet cables/cards.
Now I have a DLINK router.
How do I delete my Inhouse Network setup? There is no delete that I can find..
just a disable. The store said my DLINK router wont work cause I still have my
inhouse network installed.
Please help.
