Software / Win XP Activation crack

So I decided to upgrade my Desktop from windows 2k to XP. I have a legitimate copy of xp home sp1 that came with an old HP laptop that I dont use anymore. So I install xp on my machine and it asks for an activation. I really didnt want to spend the time on the phone with M$ so I ended up finding a nice little activation crack... so it says "This version of windows xp has already been activated". I cheer and move on with life. Now... a month later it is saying I have 7 days left on my activation.
So when it pops up saying I have 7 days left and would I like to activate... I click "Yes". But because of my crack it takes me to a screen that says I have already activated.
-Is there a way to get around this so I can at least attempt to go through phone activation? (Bring up the original activation process)
-Or 2, reset the countdown timer?
