Software / How to remove DRM protection of purchased songs
« on: March 04, 2008, 03:15:31 AM »
We purchase songs from iTunes stores. And all these songs are DRM Protected, you can only listen to them with iTunes or on your iPod. What should I do if I want to listen to the songs on my mp3 player or sansa view or PSP or other portable devices. Can we convert these m4p songs to widely used mp3 format? The answer is yes and there are some ways.

(1) burn the songs to audio CD, then rip the tracks to mp3 songs. However, it's a waste if you have many songs needed to burn.

(2) A program named Noteburner. Noteburner is a virtual CD burner. It works with media player with burning feature such as iTunes, Windows media player, realplayer, winamp and so on. What you need to do is to set Noteburner as default CD burner. In theory, if you can play the songs, you can convert the songs to mp3 with Noteburner. So protected audio files in m4p, wma, m4b formats, can be converted to mp3 with Noteburner.

(3) A program named Notecable. It works as a virtual sound card to record the audio streams in background. It's a good tool too.

(4) Soundtaxi. Similar to the third item.

Software / Remove DRM

There are serveal protected DRM audio types, like M4P, M4A, M4B and WMA. If you don't have a license to play them, you can't do anything. But if you purchase the files, and you will find you are not allowed to use it in other programs or devices.
There are some ways to get rid of DRM.
(1) Burn them to a cd and rip. Well, it's simple, however, if you have many files to burn, that would be an expensive cost.
(2)Noteburner is a program which uses a virtual cd burner and "burn" the DRM files to plain mp3, wav, wma files. It also convert all kinds of unprotected audio types.
(3)Notecable is a program which use a virtual sound card to record the audio stream and out as mp3, wav, wma files. It also convert all kinds of unprotected audio types.
(4)Other program like tunebite, soundtaxi... These two won't convert unprotected audio types.
