Software / Win XP Activation crack

I tried the method of changing the registry codes and permissions and whatnot and the Activation window now says my Windows XP is activated. However, whenever I start up my computer, I get the message that I have to activate windows. I currently have 3 days left. What's going on? It says it's activated but I'm guessing it's not?
