Software / Tfullscreen,block tracker,process logger keep appearing
« on: August 23, 2009, 11:53:41 PM »
well it might be your factory install cd.  If you have changed the motherboard recently.  Then its not the same computer anymore.
Try to install xp with another xp cd.  Then get the device drivers for the motherboard from the makers website.

Software / How to convert XP retail cd to allow OEM keys
« on: August 23, 2009, 11:43:39 PM »
Hey guys,

I'm trying to make a copy of my retail XP install CD that will allow OEM activations keys, so that my friend can reinstall Windows on a botched up PC.

So I rip the files from my CD, then edit the setupp.ini file via the instructions here.  The only discrepancy is that this page says "51882" as the first 5 numbers, while my setupp.ini file ripped from my CD has "55277" as the first 5 numbers.  So I've tried both "51882OEM" as well as "55277OEM", then creating an ISO and burning that to a CD.  Neither of these have changed the screen I see when it comes time to enter the product key, and it still tells me the key is not valid.

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong or not doing?  Is there something in that's not mentioned in that tutorial?
Is this XP with service packs 2 or 3?

Freaking Tight!
I have known about portable linux iso, but didnt know it was this small.
I dont wanna partition my hardrive so my solution was to create a virtual
environment and run another os from there.

but since i can run from the cd and its so small. What the hey!!  http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':D\' />

Software / Microsoft IE can't display page
« on: July 20, 2009, 10:11:04 PM »
check your firewall, and make sure its not blocking ie.
If firewall is not on supervisor mode, you will not see the prompt telling you to allow IE to make
outside connection.

Well if you dont like that Box that comes up.
If its too annoying for you, but you wont buy legit office, or "get" another copy.

Youre screwed.  Uninstall it and then Install Free open office.
There you go, this is one solution.   http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sleep.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'-_-\' />

Software / Slow Internet?
« on: July 20, 2009, 09:56:25 PM »
I absolutely do not use google chrome.
I think google is getting too strong.

Iv'e tested the browser, and its good.
There were some certain maneuvers i  wanted to test out, and
chrome outperformed firefox and ie and opera.  firefox came in second.
My point is that google has too much data on user preference, they know what
the average consumer is thinking.

My post might seem contradictory, but thats not my intention.
I dont like how google is taking over everything.
Im already sick of them controlling my page ranking on serps, and making
me have to be up on my SEO game at all times.

But thats just my rants.  It might be inevitable that chrome will win
the browser wars, but ill be content to have resisted as much as i could.
FIREFOX FOR LIFE.  (im making gang hand signs  http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' />)

Software / IP hiding
« on: July 20, 2009, 09:44:48 PM »
ok I like this topic, finally a nice real post.

You wanna hide your ip?  well this means you wanna use another ip that is not your own.  tee hee  http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':P\' />

Thats cool, we all do it.  It feels good, and its ok to explore.  http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' />

If youre serious about hiding your ip while having zero restrictions, unlike free proxy sites.
You gotta pay.  there is no way around it.  Even if you got your own private proxy making servers.
you're definitely paying.

Im not going into any more details, come back to your post if you really wanna know more. http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sleep.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'-_-\' />

Software / WinXP_Pro_OEM_SP3 crack
« on: January 26, 2009, 01:48:49 PM »
So from the beginning,

I intalled WinXP_Pro_OEM_SP3 on my PC before 30 days. Than I applied crack, which eliminate the system countdown 30 days to activate Win, but probably not fair to activate winxp. Now, after 30 days requires activation winxp but after you click to activate now will tell me that the system is activated and again offered the sign to winxp. The same is happening even in safe mode.

Thanks for any advice.
but it could be that some software you got is checking and downloading updates while youre playing.
you can notice it while youre playing games, but not when youre doing regular stuff.

it could be something else though.
Is there a way to just WIPE my hardrive of all my files quickly except the programs and files that were on it when the computer was first purchased?
You can't tell the wiping software to "selectively wipe" the drive and leave software alone.
it kills everythiing.

So make sure you have your Device Drivers CD ready, before performing your clean install.

cheers

Tech Clinic / dowloading setup files
« on: January 18, 2009, 04:15:19 PM »
If you absolutely must have it on a cd, heres one of the various options i would do.
i would zip the file.  Then i would burn it.  http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':D\' />

if the pc tells me that it still wont keep all of the information, ill put it into the trash can,
because that doesnt make sense. http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' />

Tech Clinic / Can't burn DVD's
« on: January 18, 2009, 04:01:31 PM »
I've tried doing that but with a dvd-r in the drive, and I get an error message that says, "Windows encountered a problem when trying to copy this file. What do you want Windows to do?" then it has cancel and retry. It's just a 67k picture and a 3mb movie that I'm trying to burn. Neither one works.

Thanks for your help!
Mickapoo
Firstly, those files are too small to burn on a high capacity medium like dvd.
You will encounter error messages. For files that small i would advice to burn it on a CDR.
(it might still not let you, so get your trusty flash drive http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' />)

lol its like a waste of the computers time to put 3mb into a 4GB space.
Thats like, ridiculous.  http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':D\' />

Secondly, even if you get the 3mb movie into the dvdr disc you wont be able to play it on your dvd player,
because the movie will not be recognized as a dvd format.

cheers mate.

Man, i tried to move that product on ebay.  lol
i sold 2 but, ebay noobs started lowering their prices, and selling at a loss.
So i was like, you know what, forget that!
and i pulled out of it.
