I suggest you disable ie6 as this is the route for much malware, instead use Slimbrowser from http://www.flashpeak.com/ or similar.

You could also use a sandbox such as ProcessGuard from http://www.diamondcs.com.au which would enable you to stop any  suspect program from running.

Block the route for many worms with windows worms doors cleaner from http://www.firewallleaktester.com/wwdc.htm.

Disable messenger unless you really need it, adaware can do this for you.
