Tech Clinic / Help me, I am crushed under spyware
« on: May 04, 2005, 08:31:50 PM »
I tried using each step exactly as noted above, no luck.  The only difference I notice now is that my web surfing is slower than a 56k modem http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':(\' />

My updated log from HJT was clean until I clicked on my IE icon, brought me to microsoft website and got a prompt to allow active x controls to be allowed by trusted website, I clicked NO and immediately got a popup box "your computer may be infected" advertisement.  I had my cable unplugged the whole time until then to make sure it was clean.  ANy ideas with the updated log below?

I cant thank you enough for your time on this, it is appreciated!

Tech Clinic / Help me, I am crushed under spyware
« on: May 04, 2005, 09:44:52 AM »
Hi, just registered, great forums I must say!

My hijack this version is

* HijackThis v1.99.1 *

I have the problem at home and am at work now, hopefully this is enough info to get started.  I get rid of the basic ones on HT that are obviously bad, but they keep coming back.  I have system restore checked so it does not restore.

I am running winxp.

Thanks again
