Tech Clinic / directx 9.0c and sp2

hello

i have downloaded the directx 9.0c pack .... and tried to install ... it says

"all components are installed and ready to use"

but still my version stays at 9.0b ....

i have xp pro + sp2, MSI geforce4 mx440, 256 ram

any idea how i can solve it?
