It's very easy to do a Google search and find other's with the same problem
A repair is definitely a fix if possible
But what happened prior, that would be great if you could let us know that?
What did happen?

It could be multiple reasons, which I could guess at, but it would only be a guess
What happened just prior to your problem?

I found other people with the same problem and they said it was most likely the boot.ini file being corrupted. But I just wanted a second Opinion.

And the computer was acting fine untill all the windows showed "Not responding" After no response from task manager or anything I else I shut it down with the power button. When I booted up it started normally flashed the bluescreen then restart. I tried resetting the BIOS but nothing. Stopped restart on system failure and found the error.

Tech Clinic / Windows BSOD (UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_DRIVE)

Recently my laptop froze and upon restart I encountered the dreaded BSOD. With the error UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_DRIVE. I used the Windows XP disk and repaired the installation and everything was fine.

But...

What went wrong and why?
I've read that my boot.ini file may have been corrupted, this true or was it something else
Anything that would shed light would be appreciated http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' />

Running an ASUS X80N laptop
With Windows XP Home (Service Pack 2)
Will provide more details if necessary.
