Did you try the FixIt from the following link?

yes i did. this troubleshooter was able to get my dvd-rom communicating again, but not my burner. however, the dvd-rom reacts slowly and wont recognize some discs.

hi techguide,

this is my first post. normally i just browse and troubleshoot on my own; however, ive run out of options. so thank you in advance:)

i have run into this issue before, and previously i deleted my upper and lower filters in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

in this case, i am several operating systems later on the same system. i was ripping/burning a disc with dvdnext copy, and the app hung so i forced a quit. after this, my disc drives dissapeared. at this time, i had been setting up an upgrade to windows 7 so i just left it alone - figuring that the full format install would clear the issue. it did not.

in windows 7 the drives were recognized, but wouldn't communicate with my operating system at all. i again visited hklocalmachine to delete filiters; however, only the lower filter existed. i deleted this, but nothing changed. since, i have run 7's troubleshooting guides and can now use my cd-rom, but with some errors. dvd-rw still does not communicate.

my regExport is attached.

cheers, rebeka
