Software / burning windows 2000
« on: October 17, 2005, 03:57:30 AM »
[quote name=\'Guest\' date=\'Oct 13 2005, 10:52 PM\']The good news is... the answer to your second question is yes.  Win2K will install a loader in the boot record of the primary drive for multiboot.

But don't forget win98 can not read the ntfs file system, if you format a drive for your windows 2000 application and select ntfs, you will not be able to access that partion with win 98. If you need to format, select fat.

« on: June 10, 2005, 07:52:27 AM »
I had the same problem it happened right after I upgraded to media player 9 or 10 don't remeber. problem was media player took over as the standard player for those video formats, which then caused players such as divx to use the wrong codex8or something like that), I never really got the problem fixed, I did reduce the grafic accelerator which helped some what. Then I happened to buy buy a new computer, which ended that problem LOL

Software / Media Player: Choppy Videos! Fix?
« on: June 10, 2005, 07:34:59 AM »
Try using something else other then Media player, The problem with media player is after loading several codexs it never uses the right one. Try a DIVX player its free, or see if someone will share a copy of Power DVD with you, you know for testing purposes  http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' />

Software / how to install os wid complete accessories
« on: June 10, 2005, 07:23:42 AM »
You could invest in a program like radia or netinstall, buy your self a database program to go along with it and lots of other nice addon and suits. Or you make a clean installation of the OS you want, install the programs you want till you have your desired basic setup, then use a program like norton ghost and create an image, which you can use to revert the computer back to the setup state. You can also use windows restore, just make a restore point after everything is installed, but don't forget to write down the date of your restore point  http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\';)\' />

Software / how to take screenshot
« on: June 10, 2005, 07:08:59 AM »
If your using 2 monitors, or have more then one window visible on your monitor and wish to take a screen shot of the active window, then give focus to that window you want to take screen shot of(click on it) then while holding the ALT key down press the Print button (maybe print screen on some keyboards). this will copy the active window to the clipboard which you can paste to a program like paint (Click Start, mouse over programs, accessories..Paint) cĀ“lick on the white part of the window then while  holding down the shift key press the inst key.
to save the screen shot click file save as , now you can save the shot to where ever you want, stanadard is to My Pictures folder. You should also select the format jpg in the drop down box, the stanadard bitmap that paint uses is very large, and not reconized by many photo programs.

Hardware / Networking workgroup computers
« on: June 10, 2005, 06:35:06 AM »
Is the third computer visible in the workgroup? If it is not make sure it is a member of the work group.
If it is visible do you get an error message when tring to access it? If so make sure that the folders you want to share have been set to network share.
You may try creating a guess account on each computer and using it to access each computer in the work group.
