Software / Barts NetBoot hangs Ghost

Here are the facts

Barts NetbootDisk (running the latest cabs for EVERYTHING) from nu2.nu
Dell OptiPlex GX270
Ghost 7.5

When i Run Ghost it hangs, lock up the whole PC

When i Run Ghost 7.0 it runs jsut fine but has a longer then usual load form the command line.

Any ideas on this issue? I am waiting to get another optiplex in the mail to see if it's machine related but anything thrown around from you guys would rule.

It is a feature of NT that you cant change hardware much like a SID. The fake way around this is to overload ..or install over your OS. or you can sysprep

the reasone one would do such is to isolate 2 networks. Lets say you have a fire wall. ON this fire wall you have 2 NIC\'s one for local traffic and one for WAN traffic ...now most people are familiar with such idea now that \"brodband\" routers are all the fad now a days. One port you plug into your DSL/CABLE one your LAN. Why? because you dont want to mix the two. You are spicifically wanting traffice on one to staw away from the other. But you want a bridge between the two so that ONLY the traffice you want will cross.

There is another reason, you might want traffic balance across the network cards, if you were a small company and for some reason using a load balancer you might load balance each NIC (this senerio is just for my explination) Why? if you had a server putting out images or movies. And you had 100MB on each card. Lets say that yor bottle neck was the 100MB but you had lots of people requesting the data. You would banance the requests into each NIC so you would have 2x as meny coustomers able to get what they want.

OR you might just want to have two networks. ONe is a Lan the other is a LAn part two ...sometimes used in a Production/Development enviroment. You could do this if you didnt want to unplug/plug a cable each time you want to switch networks.

I have only covered the common practices that i have used in my life... needless to say that there are 100\'s of reasons people could create or solutions to problems that you could find with 2 NIC;s hope this helps

use a boot loader like the demonstration on BootScriptor.Org  and you can have 100in1 boot which ever you choose. the options are up to you ...because you create it.

lets say you had a DVD that could hold all that 5h17 then yes you can. all 9x platforms you can take the floppy image and use that. then all NT platforms you have the bootloader for the cd you can boot that...but putting 5 Full versions of microsofts bloated OS\'s on a 840MB(MAX) CDR no you can not do that. in english or any other language

this command will install it on a preexisting computer...lets say that i have a computer that will not boot ...i have my cd and would like to run the repair console right from boot...however i have a winnt.sif that will skip the \"Press R option\" how would i enable that?

here is the quick and dirty

I have 2 Os\'s on 1 CD 2k and XpPro
they have a unattended script but wondering (twinkie you might have a clue on this) can i somehow add an option to run the repain console that is included with the orginal CD can i do this with the SIF file or should i do it with a external boot disk and a switch? any ideas would be kick a$$

There is lots of troubleshooting there

A)how is the docking being done usb.serial/iRed?
    try another way of docking
B)are you connecting with money/office/etc
    remove all connections to other software
did it work with the old version?

you say you are running sp3 and several pre4

do you have all the people with ipaq? can you take one and dock it on another?

if you rebuild a computer will it work?

what is common between all the comptuers that lock?

ok i got all 3 OS and tested using CDImage with the -o commands

use danny\'s post with the csimagegui from tech-files to create a cdr with wxp and w2k ~560MB

that will give you 140mb for windows 98

i cant even find my 98cd right now but i would think that you could get the install under 140mb cant you? if you delete all the folders in the w98x directory. wasnt the full instal only like 200mb uncompressed on your hard drive.. i amgoing to find a w98 cd and see if i can shrink it for you.

where did you put the definition files? just on the cd and then booted the cd in dos with mscdex and grabed them off the cd? or do you have a better way? i have the files in a directory just like you i think.

as for undeleter disk commander is better that that thing - i have no information as for the copyrights it\'s from seagates harddrive recovery factory i dont think its a public app but i have nothing that says it isnt. PM me with a email or a ftp for further info on it.

As for the files for disk commander (which has a nice undelete)

build the Cd with the wizard and put in a directory
hex edit the /bootsect.ini
for this line SETUPLDR.BINBOOTFILEX.BINI386
and change I386 to the 4 letter folder of your choice

then edit /i386/setupldr.bin
and find the 2 \'i386\' and replace with your folder name

and my txtsetup file
setupsource=\"\"

So here is the final root of the cd that i will build with ...

CDROOT/bootsect.ini
CDROOT/RDSK/setupldr.bin
