Hi guys,
Thanks for responding. I bought CPU and moboard seperately not from TD though. If the highest FSB is 333 then I've been had  http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':(\' /> because I paid for 400. Oh well. Yes it's an Athlon XP. Yes I tried Fail-Safe then Optimized Settings but no luck. On Saturday I turned it on, Windows XP Security Center popped up saying that my firewall and AV are not on. I turned them off because I have Norton AV and Client Firewall (I turned them off before, I don't know why it popped up again)... then the unthinkable happened  http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':o\' /> . No error. No freeze. I tried again on Sunday. Same result. No error again. Yeehaaaa !!! Ain't that weird ????

Hi guys, I am new to the forum stuff but got nowhere to turn to. I appologize if I do something wrong. I read all the horror stories about KV-7 I think I have something to contribute. First here's my config.:
AMD 3000+ 400MHZ, Abit KV-7 Moboard, 8X GeForce MX-440 w/ 128MB RAM, 512MB 3200 DDR, SCSI Jaz drive, 250GB WD EIDE, Asus DVD-+R DL, XP Pro w/ SP2. The BIOS has been flashed with version 19 (latest). OK here's the problem:
- The installation, boot-up was fine but the BIOS only register 3000+ 333MHZ. If I change to 3000+ 400 no boot. The screen is blank. I had to unplug the computer and restart.
- If I leave it as 3000+ 333 the computer would boot fine, goes into Windows for few minutes then the screen flicker and blurr then freeze. I could not do anything but moving the mouse and hitting reset button.
- If it does that at least once then the next reboot would be fine. I can work all day long with no problem.
The computer max'd out between 48C-50C. Is it the mismatch between RAM speed and CPU. Is it the video card? Have I bought a wrong CPU? I meant to buy a 3000+ 400 but BIOS registers 333. How can I tell the difference?
I would really appreciate any ideas, comments, suggestions. Thanks.
