Tech Clinic / URGENT PC HELP NEEDED
« on: February 10, 2006, 01:28:03 AM »
Try to recover your files with "knopix" it is a linux based operating system ran from a CD. That should help with the urgent colleged work. Now that would help assuming that there is no hardware problem. If there is a hardware problem I would lean my guess toward the motherboard or the processor being burned out.
Maybe you messed up the windows registry with a program that you installed or perhaps you manually messed it up.
I belive that if you hold "F8" you will have the choice of choosing "restore the last settings that worked" and that might help.
You can try to install another hard drive; format it and stick windows in. If the computer works fine after doing so you can try to install the hard drive with the files back in. If knopix does not help but the hard drive worked in the computer just fin then you might have just lost your files due to harddrive failure. Try to restore your files. If that does not work try to format your computer. Just boot from the cd by going into the bios and changing the boot order.
I hope you get this problem fixed soon.
