i have a weird problem with xp and my hdd's.. i have a 200GB wd disc and a 250GB wd disc.. and everytime i re-install xp i get into all kinds of trouble..

i install xp and are ready to boot up again and then xp starts doing all kinds of consistency checks of my discs and then things on the hard drives are gone..
it's like it was never there.. movies, mp3, everything.. this time the mp3's are in the disc but they are not working or making weird noises.. one even had sounds from a movie..

can anyone help me with this? it keeps happening with xp http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':(\' />

i solve it

no that happens on winxp, try to format with win2k, then install xp ontop of that. although that will leave you back in the same boat. are you using a controller card to use the drives at all?

sounds like you should find a smaller hdd and use that for now, or install linux and dual boot with winxp. atleast this way you could fromat like 80% of everything for linux and just leave alittle for winxp to mess up :-)
