CDs in cd drive(s) not responding
« on: December 23, 2003, 05:35:04 PM »
hey, i rencelty got an HP dvd200i dvd writer.
up to this point i had 2 cd drives. a burner and a dvd drive.
i unhooked the burner, made sure the jumpers were right. they are.
put it in, updated firmware, everything was going well.
i had a cd in both of the drives. both were working fine. both could read the cds in them.

somewhere along the line something changed, although im not sure what.
it still sees the drives that are hooked up, but when i put a cd in everything involving the CD stops responding, including 'my computer' window. as soon as i eject the cd everything unfreezes. ive tried this with blank and full cds :X
i unhooked the dvd writer and set up my original two cd drives exactly how they were and im still getting the same problem.

can anyone help? :\

I could be the firmware update caused problems with the Ide drivers. Try uninstalling your update. If that doesn't work try to clear the cmos and reset settings. Or try to reinstall your ide drivers.
