BootEditor added a line in your boot.ini file (hidden file found in C:\) for the new boot screen. If it doesn't work, then you can boot with your old boot screen. If you want to get rid of that line, just open your boot.ini file and delete the appropriate line, that's all. This is what a normal XP Home boot.ini file looks like:
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" /fastdetect
This is my current boot.ini:
[boot loader]
timeout=5
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Windows XP Pirated Edition (bootscreen)" /fastdetect /KERNEL=kernel1.exe
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Windows XP Home Edition" /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Windows XP Safe Mode" /fastdetect/safeboot:minimal
C:\cmdcons\bootsect.dat="Microsoft Windows Recovery Console" /cmdcons
This is the line for the default Windows boot screen:
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" /fastdetect
Don't delete that one.

This is my custom boot screen I made with BootEditor, and applied with StyleXP:
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Windows XP Pirated Edition (bootscreen)" /fastdetect /KERNEL=kernel1.exe
The default time for Windows to wait for you to choose the OS to run is 30 seconds. I changed it to 5 seconds for obvious reasons. Just change "timeout=30" to "timeout=5" or however many seconds you want it to wait.
Hope that helped.
