ok heres my problem: Im buying a new custom computer. and i have everything picked out and im just looking for the right video card. ive been doing research on wither the 6800GT and the X800 PRO (not platimum edidtion) and so far i have found that the 6800 GT is better overall. but today i found out that Half life 2 runs alot better on ATI and Doom 3 runs alot better on Nvidia...and i am going to be playing BOTH games ALOT...and im wondering which one would handle BOTH Doom 3 AND half life 2 better than the other...any imput would be appreciated. thanks (there both 256MB cards)

OK. First of all, ATI is better with textureing, But currently Nvidia holds a better graphics driver. Personally i would go with the Nvidia, its more stable, not for overclocking, but as you said, overall better. Get the ATI if you want things to look nice, you just cant jack up the graphics like i like to =). Get the Nvidia if you want a card that will last a little longer.
