http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'\' /> Sometimes Internet Explorer 6 gets corrupted, causing all sorts of problems that disrupt your browsing activities. The following steps show you how to repair ailing IE6 installations (no guarantees, of course).
These steps are for Windows XP. They will also work for Windows 2000 - just follow through with a normal IE6 upgrade afterwards. Either way, you will need the XP or 2000 CD-ROM to complete the repair.
From the Start menu, select Search, and then select All Files and Folders.
Choose More Advanced Options and check the Search Hidden Files and Folders option.
Make sure that Search System Folders and Search Subfolders are also checked.
In the All or Part of the File Name box, type ie.inf.
From the Look In drop-down list, select C: or the letter of the hard drive that holds your Windows folder.
Click on the Search button.
From the results pane, find the ie.inf file located in the Windows\Inf folder.
Right click on the ie.inf file and select Install from the menu.
Reboot your machine once the copying process is finished.
