CD under Win2K

i was silly enough to install FORCE ASPI [the silly thing] and after rebooting 3days later, my CDROM +_ CD WRITER could not be installed ! I can see them in Device Manager but i get the error that a device required for them to operate correctly is not installed

pls hel i need to use my CD !!!!

Things were fine before i insatlled FORCE ASPI, i unstalled the files it update , re-insatlled win2k over the old installation... but nothing happened.... I used to be able to see my CD + CDwriter in windows explorer...

try disconnecting your cdroms , boot w2k without them ,shut down w2k .attach one of the cds again , and bootup w2k with one cdrom ,if it works repeat the procedure .
Or go to cp ad new hardware cdrom .I one got the same problem after uninstalling direct cd ,and easy cd creator in w2k .
making an img of a perfect working w2k with a goor program is always a remedy to a lot of needless annoyance .

I had a similar problem when I uninstalled EZCD.  Bothe my Cd Rom drive and my CD RW drive would not show up in Windows at all.  Anyway I did the following to correct the problem and it worked. I\'m not sure if it will work for you but it\'s worth a shot.  by the way I\'m running Win2K.  

When you install these programs, they change your registry to use different drivers for your CD-ROM. Normally, this works fine but when you uninstall, the registry isn\'t allways updated to reflect this.

Here\'s a fix for it.

Open regedit and go to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlClass{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
In this section you will find two keys called
\"UpperFilters\" &
\"LowerFilters\" and you will need to delete both of
these keys and reboot
to restore win2K to the default CD driver. You should
also search for other
keys containing \"cdralw2k\" and \"cdr4 2K\" and delete
these then delete
these two files AFTER the reboot. Note you-cannot
delete the references
to these in \"ENUM\" as they are generated from the
class driver, but they
will not be there after the reboot.
