My father had some important text files on his computer. The computer was infected with a virus and had to be reformatted. After reformating Windows 98 is it possible to recover any of the text files or are they gone for good?
Also, if the computer is ever damaged (not physically) but the OS is inoperable is there a way to back up files without booting up the computer? (This time I'm talking about Win XP which I use now).
I hope I never have to do this, but it would be good to know.
